First, an anecdote.
Everyone knows during World War 2 Japan invaded Singapore. I dont have to remind that, how many innocent lives were lost during World War 2 and how locals were tortured. What would you do, IF during World War 2, when the british are hunting down japanese, you were hiding some innocent japanese children in your home and a british soldier came to ask if there were any japanese inside? Would you tell the truth and sentence these innocent people to death, or would you lie to protect them? Most people respond to this question with the “logical conclusion” that they would lie and protect the innocent.
Lying may be wrong in most situations, they say, but not in all situations. We are not taught to lie either, why would we?
Moral dilemmas.
We believe it was morally wrong for the Japanese to torture and kill during World War II. But we not only think it is wrong, we think everyone should agree that it is wrong. This is not to say that something is wrong just because everyone agrees it is wrong. There is a logical possibility that we are mistaken and it is just our condition and religion that tells us these things are wrong. Which simply means, torturing people is not really wrong, we just think it is, our morals tells us it is. It is very easy to say there are no objective or absolute right or wrong. In fact, there are none. Laws/Rules/Teachings are made up by human beings.
It is much more difficult, however, to live with no morals. Would you kill babies for fun? No. But then again, is it possible if we're in a situation where killing babies for personal enjoyment is morally right thing to do? Should someone find a reason to kill babies that if, in his or her mind, makes it good. Then from that person's perspective the killing of babies is good.
Right or wrong is relative to each person and his or her perceptions.
"Men who believe themselves to be good, who do not search their own souls, most often commit the worst atrocities. A man who sees himself as evil will restrain himself. It is only when we do evil in the belief that we do good that we pursue it wholeheartedly."
Yes, No, Yes, No... All are bullshits.
The line of reasoning is self-refuting.
It fails its own test.
